Label Performance


These are some simple guidelines which may be useful to get a barcode.

  • Follow proper maintenance procedure when replacing ribbon and label
  • The dotted markings should be correctly adjusted to prevent printed areas will printed on another page
  • Make sure to reduce the roll size to prevent the paper from rolling out; it is a good practice to make two rolls of labels from the big roll
  • Ribbons are not for reuse; reusing the used ribbon may lead to broken lines
  • Due to queus sometimes there is delay; try to refrain asking another reprint
  • If there is alternate response on the printed label, the label printer need calibration by IT department
  • Alternatives; share neighbors label printers


    Remember : A label which is impossible to scan/read MRN/Visible accession number or name of patient will be rejected. If the printed barcode cannot be read by YOU manually, so are the pathology personnel in the lab!.

  • If you cannot scan the barcode, neither the lab will be able to scan it
